DV/Blackmagic to Digibeta
I’m a relatively new user of Final Cut Pro having used AVID for the last 7 years.
I’m using an G5 with Final Cut Pro 5.1
I have a sequence comprising of DV-PAL footage and I’m trying to playout to Digibeta through a Blackmagic board.
The signal is perfect and the video/audio reaches the deck. The deck control works fine too. I can crash record but assemble editing throws up all sorts of problems.
I can set an in-point on the Digibeta but when I hit ‘go’, I get an error saying the compression setting for the sequence are different to those of the output.
I’ve always found there are too many settings to go wrong in Final Cut but I want to understand why it’s not working.
How should I set up ‘Easy Set-up’? Is it DV-PAL, Blackmagic DV-PAL, Blackmagic 8-Bit or what?!!!Can anyone guide me?

As an infrequent user of a DigiBeta deck (with an AJA Io) I often get this message if I forget the Edit ToTape procedure. Usually it comes from thinking the 3 buttons at the bottom left of the ETT window actually do something related to what their tooltip popup says.Assemble ETT works fine for me if I stick to draging the sequence icon from the Browser onto the Assemble overlay that appears when you drag onto the ETT window. Any other procedure gives rise to just the inscrutable error message you’ve quoted.
So I guess its nothing to do with Blackmagic, and everything to do with FCP gotchas.
