Final Cut Pro and h.264
Hello,
I need to capture a massive amount of footage (almost 50 hours) of live footage that is broken down into individual clips (i.e. a bunch of different performances around 3-5 minutes each) in a mobile environment.
I have not selected a camera to use yet but was thinking of using one of the various HDV cams.
Since it is such a massive about of footage I was wondering if it is possible to capture the footage with the h.264 codec in final cut pro 6?
By my calculations this would drop the bit rate down to around 6mbs. Giving me 17GB an hour.
The next question is whether this could be accomplished by having the camera attached to a Macbook pro via firewire, compressed by final cut pro 6 via h.264 at a high resolution, then saved via a PCIe card to a raid?
I cant find any info on using hdv with h.264.
THANKS!
