Single File to go “online” – a lil piece of eureka…
several more tests, and amazingly i’ve found that if i render out in ProRes HQ 1440, i get a “native” (no rendering required) file in my timeline, that is IF my timeline sequence is set to XDCam 1080i60. and this done via “easy setups”. go figure. i also made a DVCPro HD timeline sequence as well as even a ProRes HQ 1440 sequence, but the only one that required no additional rendering was the XDCam sequence.
so, i’m concluding that i will take my DVCPro HD timeline, which has HDCam (captured to DVCPro HD) and HDV (captured natively) footage, render it to a single QT file using ProRes HQ 1440, then put these single QT files on a new XDCam timeline. then take this project file and these QT files to the post house (assuming they have FCP 6, which i’m 99% sure they do) and dump them directly out to an HDCam master tape.
voila! no rendering at the post house. life will be good. i shall be paid. and by golly, people like me.
: )
hopefully this workflow will help someone else in their battles of confusion in this area….
thanks again!
