Be sure you have at least FCP version 5.1.2

Choose “HDV 720p25” for capture and as a sequence preset.

If you encounter the problem if erratic clip “shredding” during capture, you may need to update your JVC firmware.

From JVC: “Certain NLE’s (ie Final Cut Pro) have experienced issues with scenes being broken into shorter segments (clips) during capture. This upgrade addresses this issue.”

Apparently, you need to have at least:
    GY-HD100/101: 16-04 oder 19-03 oder 04-01
    GY-HD110/111: 01-03
    BR-HD50 01-06

    Good luck!

Thanks. However There is no such set up as “HDV 720p25” in FCP. Thats the issue I guess.

    Hello,

We updated Final Cut Pro 5.0 the other day and in the presets we have access to the HDV 720p 25 setting. Have you tried doing a MAC update via the internet?

    Thanks,

    Leo

What version to upgrade? I got 5.0.4 and it seems to be the last free upgrade avaliable for 5.0

You cannot work with 720p25 without a newer version of FCP.

    All the best,

    Tom
