FCP startup slow
Posted by Frank J. lozano on July 24, 2007 at 9:57 pmFCP startup takes nearly 3 minutes to get past the first splash screen. What might be going on?
Thanks,

July 24, 2007 at 10:08 pmHave you tried trashing prefs? Also are you opening a project directly or are you just opening final cut? If you are opening the project directly how big is that file. Usually more/longer sequences you have in FCP the larger the file size. Sometimes when i file size gets really big it just takes time for FCP to get all it’s ducks in a row.

How do you keep your system? Do you run Diskwarrior or Techtools? Before to look for posible problems in FC, make sure that your system is optimiced.
Cheers,

July 25, 2007 at 12:36 pmCheck the size of your project file, especially if you’re working on a large or complex piece. It can help if you slim it down by splitting the project up and adopting a different workflow.
Break the project down first into Media/Edits, then further down into chapters/acts/interviews, whatever seems most logical. Also weed out redundant edits by archiving them, keeping the project with your main edit up to date and as lean as possible.
There’s no problem for FCP to have multiple projects open simultaneously, you can copy, cut and paste between them.
