After Effects preview issues (no sound)
Hi guys
Im having some problems previewing my composition in AE Pro 7.
The comp consists of an Illustrator vector layer, a DV Avi clip exported from Premiere, a solid background, and a MP3 audio file.Im just trying to preview the comp, and I get issues. The video plays back (althoug at low framerate) but there is no audio at all. If I hit the period key on the keypad, I hear audio but no sound.
What could cause this?
I have a powerful computer:
Dualcore AMD 2.7Ghz, 2GB RAM, 8800GTX graphics ++
I am running Vista Ultimate.All input appreciated.

Simple: MP3s are evil. AE can’t handle them properly. Convert your audio to a WAV/ AIFF file.

However the same thing happens with WAV files (although loading a RAM preview takes less time).
And another thing, the video clip has an audio track to it too, so even if I dont add another audio layer, I still only get either audio or video.What is the correct way to preview?

I have this issue occasionally myself, and have never found a real solution. Generally, I just restart AE, and that tends to fix it.

OK, I understand. I found out that pressing 0 (not .) on the numpad actually gave me a true RAM preview, which I wasnt getting earlier. However it takes a while to load, which is very inconvenient when Im trying to synchronize animations with audio.
Isnt there a way to have AE play audio as well when I hit spacebar (play)? Even at lower quality/resolution?Thanks

Of you choose “Comosition – Preview – Audio Preview (here forward) it should work.. that’s what I have to do 🙂
