Hi I had crash and when I tried to open my project I get the below message

“This project is unreadable or may be too new for this version of final cut”

I think my project is corrupted. I cant even open it. It loads upto 40% but then stops giving the above message.

Does anybody know how to fix this.

PS: I have disconnected all my drives and try to lauch the project but same thing happened.

    Thanks

    Zee.

Hopefully you have Autosave enabled? I’ve had this happen in the past once or twice; opening your most recently Autosaved project file should work fine.

The only other thing I can suggest is to copy the project to a different drive; I’ve had this work sometimes.

I tried that all the autosave projects from 12.30 onwards are corrupt too.

I tried o open the project on two other systems but still didn’t work.

Dont know what to do now 🙁

    Hi Zee,

I seem to have this same problem about once a week.

Sometimes I will try restarting the computer with the external drives off, then turn them on. If this doesn’t work, I will trash the FCP preferences, launch the project and then reset my preferences in FCP.

Re: autosave vault… if you are able to open the project from a previously saved autosave file, be sure and “save your project as” once you open it. Otherwise I have found myself with two projects with the same name.

    Hope this helps,
    Randy
