  • Problem with HDV print to video with fade in and fade out (to black)

    Dear all,

I am having a problem printing to tape an edited 30 min sequence shot / edited in HDV (1080i 25, shot using the sony V1P).

We had utilized a fade in / fade out (to black) transition b/w two of our clips and when printing to tape, instead of the transition happening, we would get a freeze frame (of part of the transition, ie a frame that has a <100% opacity) for the duration of the transition.

We've had success with printing to tape other HDV materials with the same duration and equipment that also has fade to black transitions.

We've tried doing the transition with different methods: 1. using the fade to black transition, and 2. bringing down the opacity and back up using the opacity bar. And both method yeilds the same result.

We've also tried printing to tape directing from the sequence as well as exporting it first as a stand alone media file. Both method results in the freeze frame rather than the proper transition.

I am wondering if others had encountered this problem and / or if there's a solution to it.

    Thank you in advance!

    Cheers,
    Michael MK

Don’t suppose you have a corrupt media file on one side or other of the transition? Might try recapturing it, and see if that helps?
