  • Modifying Video Filter for multiple clips

How can you modify a video filter, so that the modified version is applied to all the clips in a sequence? I applied the Time Code Reader to an hour’s worth of clips, and tried unsuccessfully to modify the location of the Time Code Window on all the clips. Putting the sequence into another sequence doesn’t work as it “reads” the time code of the new sequence, rather than the original clips.

Alternatively, can you modify a video filter and make your modifications the defaults?

    Thanks!

highlight all the clips except the one that you’ve modified
    remove attributes: filters
copy and paste new attributes to others from clip

Thanks — what a timesaver. Now I remember it from doing the tutorials, but I guess I never used it.

This works great, but I’m still curious about the second part of my question: is there a way to modify a filter and make the modified version of the filter the default?

    Bob-

The suggestion to delete filters from all remaining clips and paste the new filter will work if there is only one filter on each clip. If you have more than one filter on all or some of the clips, or if the filter stack or some settings vary for some clips, it gets a little more interesting. Careful.

To save the changes to a filter, drag the filter to your Effects tab Favorites folder. I suggest you then double clik the Favorites folder version and rename the filter in Viewer.
