Hi
I’m thinking of starting to edit using a pen + tablet and would like to know what to buy.
Wacom seem to have the market cornered, but they’re pretty pricy so I want to know if there are any other decent tablets out there worth considering.
I’m not doing any graphic design, so presume I don’t need something that has variable pressure sensitivity. Essentially I am just replacing the mouse with a pen.
I will also be using it for sound apps like Logic Pro, and may want to take it to different facilities to edit on Avid as well.
Also, I would probably consider one with a widescreen dimension.Any advice welcome

Nope.

I just replaced my 9×12 with a new 6×11 widescreen for my dual screen setup and it’s perfect. Under $400 so it’s not bad at all. You just need to replace the pen nib about every 12 – 24 months depending on how heavily you use it. I generally replace the entire tablet about every three years.

First off, you should know that Wacom sells refurbs off of their website. That can give you a substantial savings right off the bat. I bought a low milage 6X11 off of eBay for $100 less than list.
