  • FCP6 losing Motion 3 render files

I have a commercial sequence that I built an open for in Motion 3. I rendered it (long)
and it was complete. I went in about 5 min and built a 3d envirment with 3 images and a camera move in Motion 3. I saved it and went back to FCP6. The render file for the 1st
thing I built was gone. Now 2 Motion 3 projects had to be rendered (at a snails pace).
Performance like this is troubling, since I need reliability and speed for my clients. It makes it hard to convince my employer that FCS2 should replace my Avid DS in the future.Any enlightenment from others using FCS2 in a commercial facility would be greatly appreciated.

I have also been experiencing this same problem. I’ve upgraded to FCS2 and render files in FC6 have been randomly disappearing. I can see them there in the Render folder – and actually play the files from quicktime, but FCP thinks they don’t exist and so I cant even reconnect them.

Hi Andrew. This issue needs to be addressed. I communicated the problem to Apple at
https://www.apple.com/feedback/ under the FCP6 category. I suggest you do the same.
Combining this problem with the now extremely lengthy render times for embedded Motion 3 projects in FCP6, my facility will never consider replacing the Avid DS and Adrenilines with
FCPS2/ We need reliability and speed at the very least.
