Music & video spit and stutter on DVD
I keep trying to burn a better DVD for my slideshow which is due tomorrow! It sounds fine in FCP6 and then in QT.
I tried burning in iDVD then DVD pro, and had exact same issues. It’s mainly when new music starts and i have the pictures popping in or zooming at rapid speeds, and it just has a fit for a few seconds and then smoths out.
What to do? Any help is appreciated. Thanks…Jason

if at all possible make sure:
Your bitrate is between 5-7mbps but never exceeding 7mbps except for spikes.
Your audio is Dolby AC3 and NOT uncompressed pcm (aif)
You use good branded media like, Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, etc..

Hey, thanks, I just wish I knew what any of that meant. I’m pretty green. I’m trying now to replace all the mp3s with aif’s cuz i remember hearing that could be an issue. But I also heard that FCP6 was supposed to have solved that.
I still need advice for laymen, if any is out there.

Export your FCP sequence using compressor. There are built in formats that should suit your needs. I would suggest using the “Best Quality 90 minutes – 4:3” setting. It will by default create an MPEG of your video, an AIFF, and a Dolby 2.0 (ACM) file for you. The AIFF really isn’t needed in your case.
Once compressor is done use Toast or DVDSP to build the DVD.
It sounds like you already have the video working to some degree so I would perhaps suggest just trying the audio export first since it should only take a few minutes to output and is most likely the source of your issue.
