  Exporting Photos in correct Aspect ratios

  Hi,
  I’ve been trying to figure this one out off and on for several months. My problem is not how to export it, because I want 16:9 frames but have 1440×1080 (HDV), they do not export to 1920×1080 as they are seen on the screen..everything is squished. What I have tried is Export->Quicktime Pulldown[Still] (?) and select a variety of formats.. I would hope for JPEG..something I could use as a still when making a DVD Menu.

  If anyone knows a simple way I would appreciate an explanation.

  HDV is 1440×1080, not 1920×1080. FCP knows that and stretches the image. But QuickTime Conversion doesn’t recognize that it needs to be stretched, so you end up with a 1440×1080 image.

  The same thing happens with anamorphic SD or even normal SD for that matter (720×480 should be 640×480 to look right).

  I use a Photoshop action to open all the images in a folder and resize them (in your case, from 1440×1080 to 1920×1080).

  I’m sure there are other ways of doing it too.

  I have found that Photoshop is the best and most automated way to do it as well.

  Hi, Ive been trying to figure out a way to export stills with proper aspect ratios, however I rejected that It wasn’t possible in FC. but haven’t gotten around to figure it out. But If its impossible, why not use iResize?
  simple and can batch export.

  I tried it, a nice idea, but the program only goes up to 1680, not full resolution of 16:9. If you know anything free or near free that does this easily, please let me know.

  Sorry I led you in the wrong direction, did not now the limitation, I only work SD.
  However you can try Picture Resize Genius if you have a windows based box:

  It can export full HD 16:9

  If you prefer mac; google “image resize free mac” and you will find a few free and a some free to try.
