I have and it’s works OK, but I can definately see a difference in performance with a faster CPU… I’m off to see the Mac man… my dual 2 gig G5 isn’t quite up to what I’d like to see… It’s akin to RT playback of unrendered effects. The faster the machine, the better the experience. Course after you render (and you have to render it eventually) it’s great.

    Nice.

    Thanks for the reply Jerry.

What cpu speed is your Dual Core G5?

oops, I see you said it was 2ghz.

Does it run “good enough” for editing in your existing system?

I’m going to be running it on a quad core G5 2.5ghz system.

It works, I’m impatient though… you[‘ll be just fine! It’s really time for me, the machine is a rev 1 and is about 4 years old now… so I figure it’s time, plus, that octo will be a wonder I think… at least once Leopard comes out and the apps are written to take more advantage of multiple processors.

Ah but WWDC is just around the corner. Isn’t that where the Mac Pro was first introduced. I’ve been holding off on ordering a Quad Core machine until after this event to see if there will any changes to it.
