I’ve got a project where I’d like to capture directly from DV cam into my G4. When attempting to test it, I see that the camera is seen by FCP capture. When I click on Capture Now, I get this error.

Capture Now has reached the end of the tape. All existing footage between the point you started the capture and the end of the tape was captured successfully.

When I hit the Capture Now button, it starts to capture then flips off withing about 2 seconds. What am I doing wrong???

Do you have the tape already playing when you hit Capture Now?

Yes. I’ve tried it both ways.

Make sure your settings are for non-controllable device.

Will that mean that the time code generated on the cameera will not be the same as what lays off to the G4?

You mean directly from camera? You can only do this by changing the device control to non controllable device and you will lose timecode this way.

    Jeremy and Steve,

Thanks for your response. It worked! Unfortunately, my Powerbook stopped after 10 or so minutes saying there was not enough memory. I had over 30 gig available. Any ideas why FCP didn’t see that memory?

I also ran into an issue with a gif with a client’s logo that had a transparent background. FCP didn’t recognize the transparency and just pushed white. I couldn’t figure out why this happened. When running the same gif in Sony Vegas 7.0 editing softare, transparency worked just fine. Any thoughts about this?

Again, thank you for your help.

    Hi Leonard
I’m having the same problem re “not enough memory”. Did you ever figure this out?

    Thanks
    Rick

Not so far. I’m sure it’s an easy fix, though.
