  HD 24fps to 23.98?

  Hello everyone,

  I was hoping somebody could steer me in the right direction. I am using a panasonic dvx 100A with andromeda upgrade (https://www.reel-stream.com/) which records exactly like film camera, 24fps (24 individual tiffs per second).

  I am shooting for ntsc broadcast and was wondering do i edit this in a 24fps timeline or 23.98fps timeline? Could i downconvert 24 to 23.98 if it was necessary to edit in 23.98?
  If so will my picture slow down, and cause audio problems?

  My audio is recorded at 29.97? Should I have recorded at 30fps?

  What i wanted to do was make a HD version of the video and then convert it for ntsc broadcast if necessary, but i wanted to work in the highest possible quality with no compression and have the choice at the end.

  Hoping somebody out there could help me, would be greatly appreciated

  I don’t know what you need to do with audio, that sound like a mess, but what I would do if I were you is export the 24fps as a self contained movie, then use Cinema tools to conform that movie to 23.98. Does your audio sync up now? If so, then just include the audio with that clip. How did you record the audio?

  You will find it’s going to be hard to monitor @ 24 fps (unless you have a monitor that supports it, even then it’ll be tough). You can convert all of your image sequences to QT movies then conform those to 23.98 and you will have an easier time.

  That sounds like good advice, I will export the tiffs as 24fps quicktime movies, then use cine tools to conform to edit on 23.98 timeline.

  My sound is recorded at 29.97fps, so I was trying to think ahead so that I wouldnt have a problem with sound drift later. Do you think I should convert the sound to 23.98fps as well? I havent tried matching the sound yet.

  Generally when editing does the frame rate of the audio always have to match that of video?

  After I had finished editing in 23.98 if I had to go to digibeta what would be the best way to accomplish it? Would I just change the current project settings then rener and export?

  If anybody could help out would be really appreciated.
