  Urgent! DVCPro Frame rate conversion

  I’m attempting to edit footage shot at 36fps (thanks, DP). I’m digitizing from a 1400 over SDI to a Kona LHe using the DVCPro HD 59.94 setting. Does anybody know how to ‘correct’ the digitized footage for 36fps? I’m only seeing 3 options using the Panasonic Frame Rate Converter.

  Your best bet is to digitize it over SDI to 23.98. The Kona card will recognize the flags on the tape and remove the extra frames, converting your 36fps to 24fps, thereby slowing down the footage.

  The DP probably isn’t crazy. I had a DP shooting some helecopter footage hand held and he choose to shoot it at 36fps instead of 24fps to make it not so bumpy. It work out quite well.

  To add here

  use the VARICAM 23.98 settings to extract the VFR data.
  Make sure that you use log and capture,

  capture now can not always understand the VFR data if you do not set a hard in and out point.
