  • FCP export problems…

trying to burn a simple 55minute DVCPROHD 29.97 720p timeline to DVD for client to view. When exporting thru compressor I keep getting a funny warning sign and when it goes thru, it says it has over 15hrs to go. Unfortunately I’ve left it over night and when I come back in the morning, it’s stopped, but no file.

I’ve also just exported a FCP QT movie to desktop to import into DVD studio pro but the file gets about 55% thru and then a warning comes up saying that I’ve run out of memory. Tried small files too… same result.

Got over 6GB ram in my Quad G5…

    I’m stumped.

6 Gbs is nothing if you intend to work with a 55 minutes DVCProHD file. You need much more memory.

Bring that QT into compressor and use the best 90-min preset to create an mpeg2 and AC3, then make your DVD.

problem is that I can’t even get the QT movie to my desktop… it stops half way thru. Also, in compressor it gets about halfway thru and quits.

I think it may be a FCP problem. I have probs with this unit always crashing. It’s a quad G5… runs poorly… my dual G5 has no problems doing this and I only have 3 GB RAM

When crazy stuff like this happens, I usually try to find out what clip is causing it to crash. Sometimes a currupt file can cause this to happen.

It’s not fun, but set some in outs, starting from the start of the show and export again. If it exports okay, then try a larger or the next section. It’s trail and error, but it has worked for me in the past.

    Best luck to you,

Sound like you have a corrupt render file. Go to render manager and blow away your render files and then rerender…

Try this first! If it doesn’t fix it, then try what I said.

    Nice thinking David!

    [Russell Lasson] “Nice thinking David!”

THNX Russell!!! Remakably, every once in a great while a synapse or two actually takes place, tranmitting a momentary flash of brilliance down one of my worn out neurons and into the old gray matter.
