Cable TV Spot: Edit Format? How Output?
Hi all…
Need to create 60-sec cable TV spot using graphics of scanned art, stock shots, supers/titles. Agency deliverable is a Betacam SP with “usual broadcast standards”. We have access to Beta SP 2800 deck; hope to master-to-tape in house. See profile for details; basically we have G5 Dual 2.5 running FCP 5.1.4 w/Kona 2 and a fibre channel RAID. We do NOT have a K-box or Io.
The last job we delivered on Beta was in 2003 with a Media100, now gone. Since installing FCP/Kona workstation, we’ve only captured HDCAM and DV25, edited in DVCPRO HD or DV25. Output’s always been digital: Quicktimes or MPEGs, or DV tape via Firewire–we’ve never yet tried to output analog.
1) Can our Kona 2 output the right flavor analog to a Beta SP deck? Reading the manual I fear dealbreakers, like there’s no analog audio output!?
2) If I can’t output to Beta SP in house, I’ll take a finished file to a facility. So to begin with, what edit format should we create the spot in? Better to work “higher resolution” than the delivery format, since we’re building all content from scratch and we have a choice?
Just when I thought it was safe to leave analog behind…
