Print to tape challenge
I am OS TIGER Powermac G5 Dual with FCP 5.0.4
We are attempting to print to tape from the system to a DSR 11. We are attempting to record 31:30;17 total length. 29:30;00 show length. These are the timeline values. Show is recording to 29:29;04 before going black and total length comes in at 31:31;06 even though that amount of time is not existing in timeline. After reviewing the tape it is clear the record is starting at 00:00:00;00 however it is recording black for 27 frames even though color bars & slate begin the timeline at 00:00:00;00. The timeline has correct length. Export to Quicktime again has correct length. It appears there is a math problem as the project length is 29:30;00. You would think it would read 29:30;27 with the front end black of 27 frames after record. That is what is anomoly. Clearly it is 29:29;04 before project fades to black and the length ends up 31:31;06 from the timeline length of 31:30;17. FYI: It states “index mark” as part of the deck display on the video monitor just before record begins until a second or two into recording. I do not know if the index mark is affecting the record. I have checked DF (drop frame) NDF (non drop frame) as options on the deck (DSR 11) menu. I even tried record in DF. Same challenge. I have attempted record in a number of different scenarios after having marked the initial settings. We checked with Sony on the deck and they stated that there is not a possibility that the deck would affect a black for 27 frames. They insist it is FCP related. It must be some type of setting. I have checked. I believed NDF/DF issue for sure but all of my User prefs, Sys sets and A/V sets are right. Anyone?? Thanks.
