Cinema Tools – everything out by ten frames!
Hey ho,
I digitized in a project using a lab-generated FLX list, and when analysing the clips in Cinema Tools, there is a 10 frame discrepancy on every single clip between the TC in the window burn, and the TC in the Cinema Tools window. The relationship between TC and key code is fine.
Suspecting lab incompetence, I double checked the DVCam tapes, using the TC window on the DVCam deck to compare. But there, the TC is bang on. So, somehow, when I digitized in my material, Cinema Tools added some kind of 10 frame offset.
I came in via firewire, and it was all automated from the batch list.
Is there some kind of “offset” setting in Cinema Tools that I could have missed? Or is there an offset function in the “print neg cut list” window that I could add to generate a proper list? Do I have to re-digitize everything?

I recently did a simple ‘capture now’ with FCP from a HDCAM decks’ SD firewire out and all the clips played 10 frames earlier than the timecode slates.
The following day I had time to chase this problem up and turned on the ‘burnt in timecode’ on the capture and everything was accurate!?!
Maybe our problems are related? Was your timecode 10 frames early? Anyhow, this issue hasn’t re-appeared since but I live in fear of it occuring again and not detecting it!

I’ve seen this where the capture was done with “handles” added. Is that a possible explanation?

My TC is consistently ten video frames (8 film frames) later than the window burn. Is that what you experienced?
I found an “offset” setting in my device control presets, and will look at trying to recapture later today.
