  Workflow question re: editing HDV and DVCProHD in same Timeline.

  Alright…I’ve got loads of HDV footage (1080i60) which I shot on the Z1U as well as plenty of footage from other sources in DVCProHD (1080i60). The HDV footage is the primary footage, but they are all going to be part of the same project. Ultimately, I think it’s going to be delivered in either DVCProdHD or HDCam…not sure yet.

  Using FCP 5.1.4, how best to work these together in the same timeline? I was thinking I would cut certain segments as necessary in HDV. Then, drop those segments into an DVCProHD timeline, render them, and then edit them together with the DVCProHD footage? Or, is there an easier approach?

  What didn’t make sense to me was to render the DVCProHD footage to HDV as in the end, everything is going to need to be bumped up, correct?

  Any advice greatly appreciated.

  Signed up for the Cow magazine (it’s free) and then download the next to last issue…the one where Jerry Hofmann talks about working with HDV as DVCPRO HD:

  It would be best to get out of HDV and into DVCPRO HD. This will require a capture card.
