  Delivering in NTSC & PAL on DVD — workflow question?

  I have a project in which I need to deliver it in NTSC & PAL on dvd format. It’s mostly graphics, with some video mixed in.

  I was thinking just to do everything in FCP in NTSC (AJA 525 29.97 10bit), then export out both NTSC & PAL versions using compressor for DVD SP. Then have 2 seperate DVD SP files, one for NTSC & one for PAL.

  Is this the best way to do it?

  Quad G5
  4.5GBs RAM
  AJA Kona LHe
  1TB Raid
  FCP Studio 5.1.4

  Hi
  The ‘best’ way in terms of visual quality is to edit the graphics twice in two timelines, one for NTSC and one for PAL, editing the video in the one that matches the standard the video has been shot in.
  Either the Nattress Standards converter plug-in, or Compressor can be used to convert all the unedited video footage prior to cutting it in to the other timeline.

  However this is labour intensive, so the best = cost-effective method is to cut everything in the video-native standard, then use the Nattress plug-in or Compressor to transcode the lot to the other standard.

  For the DVD you will have to create two sets of appropriately sized menu assets, whether within DVD SP, or outside using FCP or Photoshop.

  I did a quick test using the Nattress Plug-in and it worked great!
