  • Cinema tools reverse telecine question

Posted by Jacobmcneil on March 8, 2007 at 3:38 am

Hey guys, im very new at this.
We shot super 16mm….had it transfered to NTSC video on DVCAM format. I captured the video in 30 NDF and am taking it into cinema tools to do a reverse telecine transfer back to 23.98.

Im getting a warning saying that “cinema tools has trimmed extra frames off one or more clips and those clips will have to be reconnected in FCP”

Can anyone give any suggestions to help resolve this issue?

    Thanks

I’m assuming you sent them to Cinema Tools from FCP?

This would be the case then. It (FCP) thinks they’re still 30frames.

the problem is you worked in NDF- NTSC wants the timing to be DF for conversions.

so when you chose 30NDF as a tape format and did the conversion is to 23.98– CT needs to trim the frames to match the 23.98 time base, because you went converted from 30fps to 23.98 not 29.97 to 23.98.
