  • Batch capture problem with HDV

I’m trying to set up a batch list to capture using a Sony HVR-Z1U. Even if I only have 1 clip logged in the bin all it does after I push continue is it goes back to the logging bin and shows the clip as offline. The capture window never shows up. I am able to capture using capture now. And I am also able to batch capture regular DV clips just fine. I’m capturing to a local hard drive. FCP 5.0. Also I’m capturing at 1080i60.

Anybody know why batch capture doesn’t work with HDV?

I’m not sure FCP 5.0 works correctly with HDV. FCP 5.1 I believe was the first to offer support for that format.

I’m capturing now from our Sony M15U HDV deck with no problems and haven’t had any problems with it going on 6 months now.

I have updated FCP to the latest version and still can’t batch capture.

REally don’t know then, you’ll have to wait for someone with that camera to chime in. We don’t use cameras as VTR’s here, sorry.

Do a google for “trashing your preferences” this could fix the problem.
Search the apple fcp support forums as well.
    You may need to re-install.

The capture utility for HDV in 5.1 is different than the regular one used.

sorry that should have read 5.x.x

I have the upgrade to 5.1.2 but have chosen not to run it yet as 5.04 works perfectly fine for now. It definitely supports HDV capture.

    Two things to try…

    1. Trash your preferences using FCP Attic or something like it.

    2. It sounds like the problem with Quicktime that Apple is aware of… Go to this site and do what it says. https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301852

    Give this a try.
