DVCPRO 50 Speed Effect Problems-Help!
I have footage shot in 24P, anamorphic 16×9 from a Panasonic SDX900 in DVCPRO 50. It was captured as DVCPRO 50 and my sequence is the same speed. Here’s the problem:
When the footage is 100% normal speed, it plays back just fine. But if I try to put a speed effect on the footage (I’m slowing it down), the picture looks “doubled” and stuttery and generally horrible. I tried many different speeds too, and I have the frame blending checked and constant speed on. All the same result=ugly.
While trying to resolve this problem, I made a new sequence with DV/DVCPRO NTSC settings and even though it wanted to render the footage, when I did the speed effect and rendered it in this DV/DVCPRO NTSC sequence, it looked perfect. So how do I get my native DVCPRO 50 sequence to look this nice cause something ain’t right.

Did you render? FCP is not known for awesome time remapping. Perhaps you should check out Twixtor.

The DVCPRO 50 sequence doesn’t want to render the speed effect. I tried to force it but it didn’t work/help. However, the DV/DVCPRO NTSC sequence I did render and it looks great. Weird!

Go to your Sequence > Render All and Sequence > REnder Selection menus and make sure that all of the options are checked, especially ‘full’. Then hit option-r to render all the rt effects.
