  • Why won’t FCP 5.1.2 recognize my firewire cable?

I have recently upgraded my Final Cut to version 5.1.2. I hooked up my Panasonic DVX via firewire and it does not recognize it at the startup. My imovie program does, but not Final Cut. Could anyone help me by giving me a step by step process on how to configure the system so that it does recognize it. All my settings have not been toyed with and I am running on OSX 10.4.8 Thank you
