    I’ve noticed in a couple of posts or article about mapping keyboard shortcuts to effects or trasnistions, it says that final cut will apply defalut shortcuts to the first 4 effects.

    A quote from Andrew Balis’ Article on Mapping Effects To Key Commands In Final Cut on Ken Stones Sight.

    “Notice in the Effects menu, under Favorites, is our four effects, and next to them are keyboard shortcuts. The first four effects in the Favorites bin use these default key commands. You can use these commands, but they’re not easy to remember (Control/Shift/2, Control/Shift/W, etc). Next we’ll change the key commands to something friendlier.”

    My system does not seem to be doing that.

    I have 6 favorite trasitions and there is nothing listed next to them when I go into the favorites menu.

    Does something need to be turned on?

    I’ve also noticed this. I noticed it when I upgraded to 5.1.2. It trashed all my shortcuts then wouldn’t assign any when I tried to re-establish. That’s not the only thing with 5.1.2 that I’ve noticed. But this one’s really annoying!
    I assume you know that you can reassign using the keyboard layout function. Or using the Button Bar list to assign those effects to the button bar on the timeline. That’s what I’ve ended up doing.
    Ah, progress!

    I thought that I could reassign them, but I can’t seem to do that either.

    How do you go about doing that?

    Assigning them in the keyboard layout, not the button bar.

    I’ve tried dragging them onto the buton I want them assigned to and dragging the button on to them and neither will do anything.

    Thanks again;
