Reformat 3:4 to 16:9 ??
I want to combine downconverted HDV clips (shot on H1) with 3:4 clips (shot on 1s). What is the best way to reformat the SD 3:4 material to SD 16:9 material?

don’t reformat, just combine the clips in an “Anamorphic” timeline and scale, crop and reframe the 4:3 material as needed.

C’mon man! Do a little research! Scroll down just a day or so and you’ll find a whole thread about it.
Do a search of the posts and you’ll find lots, and lots, and lots more. Scale the 4:3 133% and drop it in a 16:9
timeline, reposition, and serve.

actually, i did some resizeing in Compressor, and i thought the result was better than FCP. I go the info from the interweb, by doing a google for up size or re size. Sorry i cannot be more specific, as it was a while ago. but it would be worth it to you to look into it
the primary benefit of compressor is it has a very good interpolation algorithm that makes the blowups seem less blown up.

I agree, Bob. The scaling in Compressor is much better than FCP’s. AE is better than FCP too.
