importing telecine log to FCP/exporting audio EDL
i’ve edited my piece BEFORE creating a telecine log with flexfiles. Now I’ve put the log files in a cinema tools database. I really just need them to create an audio edl for soundpost to find my original sound. I just don’t get how to connect the sequence clips with the cinema tools database or vice versa… that is, for my sequence audio clips to reference the original audio TC (right now their TC references the lab reel TC)-

Need more info. Was the sound synced in telecine? If so, is the audio timecode burned in on the video image?
How did you capture the footage, if you didn’t use the telecine logs? Are you clips divided anything like the clips described in the telecine log?
You need to link the quicktimes you edited with to a Cinema Tools database. In the database records, you have to log the correct audio timecodes, and video edge codes and timecodes.
So whether you can use your original telecine logs is decided by whether you captured your footage in the same groupings.
If not, I would export a FCP batch list of the master clips, create a Cinema Tools database from that, and then use the original logs to locate corresponding audio timecode and video timecode points, and then set the cinema tools records to match the correct information.
If the process is done backwards, often there is a lot of additional work, but it can be done.
