  • Correct resolution for 1366 x 768 display

Posted by Chris H on January 20, 2007 at 4:47 pm

    Hi-
Wondering what is the best resolution to use for an after effects project that will be displayed on a 1366 x 768 resolution plasma. Would it be 1920×1080 or 1280×720?
    Thanks-

You could set a custom resolution.
If not, create a test (one of each size), and see what happens. It’ll probably be the larger one, but you should definitely test a workflow if you haven’t used it yet.

I’m not sure the size of the monitor is as important as what codec and workflow you will be using and what playback format will be used. Is it a DVCPro HD project? Uncompressed 1080i? HDV?

Or will you simply render out a quicktime movie in any given codec and will play it back off the hard drive?

    [chris H] ” 1280×720″

It’d be 1280×720. But you can also send 1080 signals to that plasma and will look nice too. What format are you laying off of?

I’m exporting to an M2v file. It’ll be played off a digital signage system, which uses a hard drive.
I assume the mpeg only can be exported in one of the 2 sizes…
    Thanks for the info everyone!

Have you tried contacting the display techies who will be receiving your file?
