converting 23.98 to 29.97 for music composer
hey gang!
i am working on a 720p 23.98 dvcpro hd project (for broadcast) and i want to know the best way to hand a quicktime / omf over to our music composer. he has told me his system (cubase) won’t handle 23.98. whether or not that’s true (he could be referring to playing back the quicktime on an external monitor), i want to know the smoothest workflow for giving him everthing in 29.97 and then importing the aiff’s i get back without any sync issues.
from what i’ve read, i can just copy everything into a 29.97 sequence, export, and then import his aiff back into my orininal 23.98 sequence. sounds too easy.
One more thing I need to work out (haven’t started the show yet) is the delivery requirements (DUH!). i’ve been told i am going to be outputting a 23.98 sequence to tape (on the aj-1200hd) which is then going to be mastered to a d5. now, since this show is going to air in sd, wouldn’t that mean that we are going to have some df/ndf issues? what is the calculation required to accomplish this?
also, does anyone know if the d5 can record true 23.98 or is it like the aj-1200 which records at 59.94 with flags?
obviously, i’m a bit new to this workflow. won’t somebody please show me the light?!?!
