I have a client who’s done some simple editing of a project in Premiere Pro. He now wants me to go over and refine his video. What would be the easiest way to import his project into Final Cut? Thanks in advance:-)

    Tore-

I don’t have an answer for you, but I do have a suggestion.

You might get more of a response in the Premiere Pro forum. They know what Premeire can output. Most of us would be just guessing.

If I were guessing, I’d look under the Export menu in Premiere and see what the options are. But I don’t even know if Premiere calls it Export….

Find out what options Premiere has, and then come back and ask us what’s the best one for FCP.

Thanks for answering debe. I’ve already cross-posted in that forum as well as this, but the answers to my question haven’t been numerous…as for Premiere, it actually has EDL export, but does that mean that I can export and EDL from Premiere and then open the project (from the EDL file) in FCP without any compatibility issues…?

[Tore Jonssen] “it actually has EDL export, but does that mean that I can export and EDL from Premiere and then open the project (from the EDL file) in FCP without any compatibility issues…?”

I would suggest you do what I do, just try it and see what happens. And don’t just try it once, try it multiple ways with multiple formats and see if it works. If it does, you’re golden.

    Hello Tore,

Did you ever figure out how to do this? I’m preparing to do the same thing.

    Hi Andy!
No, luckily I talked the client into doing the job all over again in FCP, so there was no need. So I don’t really know any more about this than when I asked the question. Sorry that I am not able to help you out here….good luck anyway:-)
