    Hey everyone-

Maybe you guys can help me out here. I’m a novice at FCP and I am trying to achieve a few things…not to sure if they can even be done:

If I look in the sequence settings page, I see you can select up to 24 output tracks (in either stereo or dual mono pairs). I am choosing 4 so I match the 4 track inputs of our various capture devices (XDCAM, Digi, BetaSp, DVCam etc).

If I have a hypothetical session that has say MONO VO on TRK 1, MONO FX on track 2 and STEREO MUSIC on track 3/4, can I output a full mix to FCP outs 1/2 as well as a mix minus vo to FCP outs 3/4 in one pass?

Can I make these assignments in the audio mixer window?? I obviously need to assign every track to FCP outputs 1/2 (which is easy), but then what about assigning only SELECT tracks to outputs 3/4? The goal is to do ONE pass laybacks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
I do this by making intermediate audio exports to .aiff of the full stereo mix, and the stereo Music and Efx (less VO) mix, then duplicating the Sequence, and replacing the audio for my two stereo pairs, then use Edit to Tape to lay it all down on Tks1-4 of the DigiBeta tape, at the same time as the video.

    Hey man-

Thanks for responding, your post makes perfect sense. Can you clarify two things for me?

A.)You are essentially creating a fourtrack “layback” sequence with 2 stereo aiff’s (full mix and mix minus vo)…when you layback, are you changing the output assignments in the audio mixer?

B.)Regardless of your method, does FCP allow a real time assignment of one audio track to multiple outs?
