  • How can I copy effects from one clip to another?

Hi. I’m color correcting a series of clips in FCP, and I want to apply the same color correction parameters to each clip in my sequence. Any ideas how I can do this without manually applying the filter and changing each value? Scoured the manual and CC, but no luck…any ideas?

Paste attributes is what you want. Chapter 14 “Copying and Pasting Clip Attributes”

you can also load (double-click) the color corrected clip into the viewer, create a new bin named custom color or something like that, then drag the CC from the filters tab to that new bin. Then give it the appropriate name in the bin, like Jane Doe CC or whatever. you can then add this to one or multiple other clips in the timeline by selecting and dragging your new Jane Doe CC from the custom color bin. This would work with any other effect, filter, or transition with parameters you wanted to save as well. The problem with the past attributes tab is that it only has one selection for effects, so if you have a blur or anything else on there, that will be copied as well.
