if you have a clip of video (or a group of clips) on the timeline but didn’t insert the audio originally, is there a way to select it/them and tell FCP to bring in the audio from the selected in/out points? this has bugged me when i’ve needed to do grab audio for a single shot and had to look at the timecode, then go back into the source tape and grab it. but now i have roughly 50 clips i need to perform this on, so any help would be appreciated.

    thanks,
    andy

Perform a match frame… then a replace edit immediately after, but add the audio tracks at the same time.

Not sure if you can do it all at once for 50 clips, but use Match Frame on all the clips and you’ll be able to simply edit in the audio.

Place the Playhead at the beginning of a clip in the Timeline.

    Press the F key

The source clip is brought into the Viewer at the matched Timecode

    Edit in the Audio only

Park the playhead above the clip and hit “F.” This will match back to the original source, with the in and out points used on the timeline. Then just cut it in.
