I’m having some major audio problems with mini dv tape footage I have captured into FCP.
The audio issue is best described as a random “gargling” sound. It occurs sporadically, and after changing capture devices and firewire cables, still persists. The sound is not on the tape, and doesn’t show up during capture.

It has started to frustrate the editing process, and require recapture of a lot of material.
Has anyone run into this problem before? I tried resetting my preferences in FCP. Waiting to see if that helps. Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Might dub the tape… As long as the capture presets are set to be what is shot, you shouldn’t have problems…. so if they are set correctly, there’s something amiss with the tape, and a dub might fix you right up.

Are you capturing from the deck that recorded the program? If not, try capturing from there. It’s possible the head alignment is out on one of the decks.
