EXTERNAL MONITOR PROBLEM – FCP 5 – QUAD
Hi everybody,
I am having problems with the external monitor using FCP 5.0.4.
I get no video signal at all in it. The screen mantains the usual desktop picture .
I just moved to the Quad from a G4 where I used to edit with in my external Monitor without problem.My External Monitor is SONY DVI – and the Quad is plugged to it via one of the two DVI back connections of the Quad (as I used to work on my G4, meaning no fw).
On the VIEW> VIDEO PLAYBACK menu appears
CINEMA DESKTOP PREVIEW – MAIN as the only choice wich when selected turns my main monitor ( not the external) into the video output.Of course I

Whose card are you using? Decklink? or AJA? It probably needs to be updated to work in your new mac’s slots. the G4 used PCI slots and the new mac you have uses PCIx slots.

I had a similar problem with my Quad. Try plugging your monitor into the other monitor port. See if that works

Yeah, you do… to view video externally on a video monitor, you need a capture card (supporting PAL? probably)… if you’re not working in DV where you can send the signal out to a deck or camera and use it’s analog outputs to the video monitor.
