Capturing 24P footage from XL2
Hey all,
Did a search, but didn’t find what I’m looking for.
I’ve got footage I’ve captured from an XL2 and it was shot in 24P mode. FCP says it’s 29.9 fps in the properties. The NLE I’m used to just recognizes frame rates and aspect ratios automatically. How do I get this to read (or recapture?) as 23.9?

24P runs at 29.97. Only if you recorded in 24PA mode would you get 23.98fps.

When shooting in 24p Normal, the camera is adding normal standard 3:2 pulldown to the video, which results in 24p footage designed to work with any non-linear editing suite and it will play back and look good directly to any NTSC monitor. Since your captured footage is saying that it is 29.97, then it is 24p, not 24PA. So use the DV/NTSC setting adn you will be fine.
