media manager trouble!!??
Hello,
I have a project that I just had the selects rescanned for a future HD finish. The post house gave me back all the files as uncompressed HD. For a cast and crew screening that I am having, I wanted to screen a DV25 version of my newly scanned film, sans the window burn. Using media manager, I made copies of the HD material that are dv25 23.98. The HD selects were scanned as 23.98, actually some of them say 23.97, not sure if that matters but….
How do I create a new sequence that has the downconverts of my selects in place of my offline files. My edited timeline is 29.97. Here is what I have done on each program:
Media manager-
Highlighted the sequence I want in the browser, control clicked and got into media manager. chose “create offline” selected the preset I wanted, in this case a dvd25 23.98fps. It does its thing and I get a new sequence with the offline clips. My media is already on the hard drive, no need to capture, so I choose “reconnect media” . I then get a messege saying that the frame rates don’t match between the chosen preset and the original timeline, the preset will be ignored. I thought no big deal, I will just have to render the whole thing before I lay it onto tape. I go to connect the media and find out that the post house renamed the clips. So the search that final cut is doing for the media is not going to work. Do I have to rename all the clips back to their original names or can FCP do a search via timecode, which does match?
Cinema tools-
I exported an edl. Opened it up in cinema tools and exported that as a 24fps edl. Now i want to reimport that into FCP to try and make a 23.98 timeline. Only the new edl is grayed out when I go to import it. So I try to import ANY other edl and I get a messege stating that there was an error importing the edl. End of story.
I am at my wits end with this one. Not sure what to do.
