I have tried mounting a external harddrive to see if it was something mre then just software and it seems to be the case. Bought a new PCI Firewire card and it is still not communicating with FCP or allowing me to mount a hard drive on my cpu. The computer does seem to read my new firewire card but to no avail can i talk to my deck.

More info: what kind of deck are you trying to use?

I know the Sony DVCAM decks come with a warning that plugging in the FW cable when the deck is already on can damage the iLink… basically frying the connection from what i gather

I’m using the JVC BR-DV600U. Was working fine for awhile then got to my computer one day and nothing.
