Need advice on new monitor for After Effects
Hi,
I just had a new custom PC built specifically for doing 3-D previs using Antics as well as work in Utra 2 and After Effects Pro. I currently have my old PC system set up with a Sony SDM-P234 (a 23″ monitor) that has served me well. But Sony has discontinued it and while they are still for sale from non-Sony sources I want something as good if not better from a reliable source. I am considering the 22+ inch Gateways, Apples, Dells and Samsung. 30 + inches may be too big. I need the monitor to be in widescreen format with a resolution of at least 1920 x 1200, a refresh rate of approx. 16ms or less, a contrast ratio of no less than 500:1 and preferred dot pitch of a 0.26 or less. Connections should include DVI. Does anyone have any suggestions? In advance, thanks for your help!

The Apple screens seems to be incredible, but I don’t know how compatible they are on PC systems. (dunno if there is any issues with the gamma difference of PC and Mac for example)

I am in fact leaning towards the Apple 23″ monitor. My video card is a nVidea Gforce 7900 GS on Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 at 2.4GH.

my father in law has a 24″ samsung that’s fabulous. There are rumors that apple will be releasing new screens soon. they were expected at macworld but didn’t show up. I use the 23″ apple on a dvi switch for both a mac and a pc with no problems.

I’ve got the dell 24 inch, and it’s changed my life. OK well, it’s changed how I work, which occupies a lot of my time, so it’s changed the work part of my life. For the better – by the way.
