  Native HDV work flow, FCP to AE, and back to FCP

  Hi Guys

  I’ve been doing a search on the forum for Native HDV FCP to AE, and back to FCP workflows, but im not having much luck, if anyone can point me to the right directions i would appreciate it. If not I hope you can help me with my dilema.

  I had HDV footage on the Sony Z1, which I captured native to my mac using FCP. All the footage was shoot using a green screen background. I have been made aware that After effects has better tools for chromakeying which i wish to exploit. I have edited my footage into a series or sequences which i want to open up in after effects, apply the background and colour changes, and then bring it back into FCP for finishing touches and out put back to HDV. Is there a workflow i can use that will have minimal degredation loss as possible? I have never used After effects with HDV footage before, but i expect it to be a painfully slow process.

  convert it to a lossless codec like QuickTime 10-bit uncompressed.

  You will likely lose quality if you render HDV each time

  Thanks guys for the advice. Ideally i would like to keep things in native HDV, i have been doing some research on a peice of software called automatic duck. Im not sure how that will work with HDV however.

  But nonetheless i’ll find a solution.
