widescreen 16:9 help needed
hello,
i am new to FCP and found this great place!
this should be easy:
3 minute project.v1 is tif image (still image) –i can make it whatever size i need to, right now it’s 854×480, but it could big bigger!
v2 and v3 are very small .mov files that i lifted out of the Brushstroke theme form iDVD 6 (a widescreen theme.v2 and v3 are composited over the tiff and both are well within the borders of the tiff, in fact there simply a paint brush stroke across a small centered part of the image.
this is all done and works and looks great!
fyi, i have done this DVDSP (albeit a bit differently) and it it is full widescreen 16:9, SD.
here’s the issue: it is letter boxed out of FCP. please someone tell me what settings i need to make and if my tiff is incorrect… i just don;t what is causing this.
v2 and v3 are composited thusly: v2 is multiplied, v3 is travel-luma.
HELP! i’m going nutz!

You will need to specifiy:
1) That the sequence is anamorphic – using the check box in the sequence settings
and if this is correct:
2) That the item properties for each layer are anamorphic (assuming they actually are) by selecting them and hitting Apple+9 and checking the anamorphic box.
If the source material is not anamorhic 16:9 you will need to either zoom it to fit (using the motion > scale setting) or change the aspect ratio to fit.
It sounds like you are trying to put 16:9 elements into a 4:3 sequence – so 1) should fix it, but you will need to start with a blank 16:9 sequence before you place the footage.
