Title 3D in 5.1
Since I upgraded to 5.1 my Title 3D is gone, what to do about this? Yet another Boris/FCP5.1 shortcoming? Please say no.

I have it…so it isn’t missing in the update. Wonder where yours went?

I had this issue. They changed something so that it’s now in a folder called “Boris”. You might have to install it again from the FCP install disk.

Well I’ll be, you are right, it made a new folder called Boris, it’s all in there and seems to work, thanks!

Chris, for the benefit of others with similar issues, could you be a little more specific about where you found the Boris folder?

Hey David,
The folder called Boris is in the generator drawdown tab. It is not in with the other text things, it’s up near the top, which is how I missed it, I think.

Yes, yes, more specific. I don’t understand what you did and I desperately want my Title 3D back too. Same deal, it’s gone!

A post from LAFCPUG about the 3d Title generator not working on a bunch of people’s machines.
Even more worrysome (for me) is the fact that someone emailed Boris about it and received this response:
“Unfortunately, the Mac Intel’s run on a new code base, and FCP 5.1.1 is equipped with a matching code base to allow operations on this new hardware. BCC 4 is built on the AE plug-in architecture, which this new code base does not recognize. We are currently working on a fix
but I’m afraid I cannot give you an ETA on this. I can, however, let you know when a development is made. ”I can’t live without my Title 3d…

A month later and as far as I can tell there is no movement on this…
In fact, the BorisFX site is down at the moment, so I literally can’t even check if they have an update available.
If anyone manages to figure out a solution or knows of an update, please do tell.

Title 3D is working perfectly here with FCP 5.1.2 on both our G5 Quad and the Mac Pro. We do all our name supers for a new series using Title 3D and we’ve turned out two episodes in the past two months.
What sort of issues are you having with Title 3D?

I’m not sure exactly when it happened, but my Title 3D tool completely disappeared from my generators pulldown/effects folder. I know some people were confused because it was moved into a folder named Boris in their generators tab, but I have nothing at all.
I also did a search in my effects tab with the same result.
I also reinstalled Final Cut 5.1 a month ago or so, but the Title 3D tool was still missing. Unfortunately I can’t reinstall at the moment because I’m in the middle of a project and don’t want to mess with anything drastically. Is there a way to install JUST the borisfx content from the Final Cut DVD? My Crossgrade disks don’t have the option that I can find.
I just presumed that there had been no update to the problem mentioned in the LAFCPUG article, but maybe I’m missing something.
