When I “send to” from FCP to Shake the wrong clip gets sent to Shake. There are no speed changes on the clip etc… it is clean and selected correctly. The clips aren’t off by a few frames…it loads film that is two to three minutes away from the intended in and outs. Can anyone help?

    thanks

can’t help much except to say it never seemed to work right for us. Went back to export QT ref files for shake.

I have extremely little experience with Shake but from what I can tell is that Shake uses your entire clip, not just the in and out points.

Ok…. Let me explain. If you have a clip that is 20 seconds long and your in-point is say 5 second into the clip and your out point is one second from the end, that leaves you with a clip in your sequence of 14 seconds BUT when you “Send to Shake”, it sends the full 20 second clip. At that point you will have to adjust Shake for the correct in-point or start frame.

Yeah, I know…. it sounds complicated but that’s Shake. Shake is extremely complicated and has an extremely steep learning curve. I guess you have to expect that from the best compositing program on the market. Shake was built straight from Unix code and works in a simplistic way when is comes to importing clips.

The only way to make this simple on you is to export your clip from in-point to out-point as a complete file and use that in your sequence and “Send to Shake” from there. That will make your job easier until you learn Shake.
