Just wanted to update everyone here that I followed the AE 7 tutorial for getting it to operate on a Mac Pro, but I’m finding that a large project is currently crashing it again.

We’re doing an animation running about 1:45 with 65 layers of material so far and probably another 40 – 50 layers to add. It was running ok for about a day and now all we get is the spinning beach ball and the message “After Effects is not responding” when we try to work on the Mac Pro.

The same project is running just fine on either our G5 Dual 2.0 or G5 Quad 2.5. So I guess as long as your projects are relatively simple, they will work fine on the Mac Pro, but from what I’m seeing, keep complex stuff on the G5’s.

Great news this week with Adobe bringing the entire production suite back to the Mac. Can’t wait to see a universal After Effects at NAB!
