    Hope I’m not asking to much, but basically what I want to do is the following…

    capture in a long clip – IE 60minutes, then load an EDL or something similar and use that to ‘cut’ the clip up.

    In smoke you are able to do this by loading the clip into a sequence/timeline set up the timeline so it’s start time is the same as the EDL and then hit a button (so to speak)…

    Is there something simlar for this?

    Otherwise is there a way to use and EDL/ALE to create marker points in a TL?

    Not that I know of. But that sounds like a handy feature for color correction.

    There was a third party utility that did this trick. I can’t remember the name.

    Sounds like what I need Mishka – will check it out…Do you know if it will name the marked point according to the name in the EDL?

    As far as I remember it simply creates new EDL that references master tape, not source tapes. It doesn’t changes event names, just TC and Reel.
