Hi, sorry to ask a pretty dumb question but i’ve never had to do this before – i’m making an EDL of my cut and the tape names I gave during log and capture are too long for the EDL format to handle, making them miss out the vital tape number on the end i.e. MY PROGRAMME TAPE 001 has become ‘MY PROG” with no number.

Is there an easy tool to quickly and safely change the names of the tapes I have used for the whole project? Or am I going to have to go into each bin and manually type in new names for each clip?

    Many thanks guys

If you change the names those changes will be reflected in the file (you’ll get a warning that this will be changing the master clip every thime) so that will be reflected in the EDL.

Yes, as a habit, keep tapes names to 6 digits.
