  • Mixing HD and SD footage in multi-clips, fcp 5.1?

Posted by Blase Theodore on October 20, 2006 at 6:51 pm

Does fcp 5.1 add support for mixing HD and SD content? Or does anyone know a workaround?

I have 2 HDV feeds and 2 DV feeds that I’d like to create multi-clips with.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Blase

It’s always supported it, just not in realtime. You simply have to scale and render the mismatched footage. If you place SD footage in an HD timeline, you need to scale it up and render. If you place HD footage in an SD timeline, you need to scale it down and render.

OR, you purchase something like a Kona card and do the Up / Down convert in realtime on the way in so you can go ahead and edit in realtime. That’s what we do here with our Kona 2 and Kona 3’s.
